Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I drink coffee while on this protocol?
Yes you can drink coffee! However, we recommend being mindful of how much you are consuming each day and what you are putting into your coffee (i.e. creamers, sweeteners, etc.).

2. Is this plan good for weight loss or maintenance?
The goal behind this plan is to reset your gut to a solid foundation, and as a result may end up in weight loss. In functional medicine we always say that you have to get healthy to lose weight, not lose weight to get healthy. So while weight loss may be a natural byproduct of this plan, it is not the end goal and will vary between each person’s unique health case and biochemistry.

3. Do I need to prepare the food myself?
No! We designed this plan to make it as easy as possible for you to take care of your Gut Feelings. With our busy schedules and on-the-go lifestyles, it can be difficult to dedicate time to meal prep, especially if you are making changes from how you normally eat. This plan cuts out all guesswork so you can focus on what matters most – yourself. Just reheat the prepared meals and you are good to go!

4. How many calories?
Since everyone’s individual caloric needs are different, we don’t focus on counting calories and instead focus on bringing together well-rounded, nutrient-dense meals that fit within the daily caloric recommendations for the general public. With that said, calories will be listed alongside each meal, but that information is to do with as you wish based on your specific health goals.

5. What does Shameflammation refer to?
Shameflammation is a combination of shame and inflammation with each one affecting the other. On one end, shame is one of the most common underlying emotions found in people with chronic stress and unresolved past trauma that can leave you feeling anxious, hopeless, overwhelmed, and just plain disconnected from your intuition. And on the other end, chronic inflammation can lead to mental health problems like anxiety, brain fog, and depression, as well as digestive distress, skin problems, and autoimmune conditions. Ultimately, shame and inflammation can be both a cause and effect of one another.
