1. Increase Your Fiber Intake
Fiber is CRITICAL for a healthy gut. Yet, no one is really focused on it—only 5% of the population is putting the recommended 25-35 grams of fiber in their body. In fact, I believe that number should be upwards to 50 grams daily. That means 95% us are missing out on how their body naturally wants to lose weight, stay hydrated, balance blood sugar, prevent heart attacks and strokes—and have healthy poops!
Add more fiber-rich foods to strengthen your diet like broccoli, avocados, carrots, beets, Brussels sprouts, lentils, chickpeas, quinoa, and my favorite superfood, chia seeds.
2. Keep Your Gut Inflammation in Check
It’s all about keeping your inflammation in check by increasing your anti-inflammatory Omega-3 intake and decreasing your pro-inflammatory Omega-6s.
Omega-3 fats that HEAL = wild caught salmon (and other cold water fish like trout, herring, anchovies, and sardines), fish oil supplements, EVOO, and seeds: chia, flax, and hemp.
Omega-6 fats that KILL = soybean oil, safflower oil, corn oil (in more foods than you think!), cottonseed oil, grape seed oil, hydrogenated vegetable oils, and most processed and fast foods.
3. Think Green: Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is at the core of what I call a STRENGTH EATING diet, and will cleanse, detoxify, and strengthen your gut microbiome. Think all the green things: juices, smoothies, soups, salads, etc. Chlorophyll is high in minerals, especially magnesium, one of the biggest deficiencies in the western diet. This green machine neutralizes the acids and toxins in our gut, making you feel LESS inflamed, stuck, and constipated to MORE energetic, powerful, and free.
4. The Solution To Pollution Is Dilution
When your plant wilts, the first thing you do is water it, The same goes for your body. Constipation is the #1 sign of dehydration, and 42 million Americans are suffering with it.
